Is Stagecoach Worth the Trip?

Stagecoach is the biggest country festival on the West Coast, and it happens on the same Indio polo fields as Coachella, under the same palms, with the Santa Rosa mountains going purple at sundown. The difference is the crowd: boots, hats, and a festival that has been doing this since 2007.

The 2027 bill splits cleanly by day. Friday belongs to Riley Green, with HARDY, Brothers Osborne, Cody Jinks and Shaboozey underneath. Saturday is the deep one: Zach Top headlines, but Willie Nelson & Family plays five days before Willie turns 94, Journey is on the same line, and Charley Crockett, Tedeschi Trucks Band and Stephen Wilson Jr. fill in below. Sunday is the one people will buy for. Garth Brooks closes the festival, with Kelly Clarkson right before him and Pitbull, Turnpike Troubadours, Carín León and Matchbox Twenty earlier in the day.

Insider tip: the payment plan is the quiet deal here. $49 down holds a pass and spreads the rest into monthly payments, but only through November 30. After that you're paying in full.

Best For

Country fans who want the whole range in one weekend, from Willie Nelson to Zach Top to Shaboozey. Anyone who'd rather camp with friends than check into a hotel. Groups with mixed taste, since Journey, Matchbox Twenty, Pitbull and David Lee Roth give the non-country half of the car something to look forward to.

Less ideal for

Anyone who only wants Garth Brooks, because there's no single-day pass and you're buying all three days to see Sunday. Anyone who wilts in heat, since late April in the Coachella Valley can run hot by mid-afternoon. And anyone hoping to keep it cheap, because the valley's hotels price for festival season.

Where to Stay

The Empire Polo Club sits on the south side of Indio, and everything else in the Coachella Valley strings west from it along I-10: La Quinta and Indian Wells, then Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage and finally Palm Springs, about 25 miles away. The official shuttle runs from 14 stops along that line, so you don't have to stay close. You do want to stay near a stop.

  • Camp on site. The full Stagecoach experience, and the one regulars swear by. Car camping ($324 for the stay) is already on a waitlist, RV lots start at $1,649, and if you want a bed without a hotel, the Lake Eldorado lodges and tents and the La Campana bell tents run from $1,399 to $3,300. All of it is an add-on to your festival pass, not a replacement for one.
  • Indio and La Quinta (closest). The shortest shuttle ride and the quickest drive home. La Quinta Resort & Club, Embassy Suites La Quinta and Hampton Inn & Suites Indio are all shuttle stops. Old Town La Quinta is the nicest place in the valley to walk to dinner.
  • Indian Wells and Palm Desert (the middle). The deepest bench of resort hotels: Grand Hyatt Indian Wells, JW Marriott Desert Springs and the Palm Desert Hampton and Courtyard are all on the shuttle line. El Paseo in Palm Desert gives you a real restaurant street for the night off.
  • Palm Springs (most character). Mid-century motels, a walkable downtown and the best nightlife in the valley, about 25 miles from the gates. The Palm Springs Convention Center is a shuttle stop, but it's the longest ride, so plan on an early start.
  • Official hotel package (least stress). From $380 per person per night for a 3-night stay, 2 to 4 people, across 20 hotels, with passes and shuttle passes included. It costs more than doing it yourself, but it settles the pass, the room and the ride in one booking.

Stagecoach usually lands right after Coachella's two weekends, and valley hotels price the whole stretch as festival season. Book a refundable room as soon as you have a pass, and price the shuttle stops before you pick a hotel.

Getting There

Flying in: Palm Springs International (PSP) is the closest airport, roughly 25 miles from the polo fields. Ontario (ONT) is about 90 miles west and often cheaper. LAX works, but it's around 140 miles and the I-10 drive east can take three hours or more on a Thursday.

The shuttle: a standalone shuttle pass is $130 for the weekend, or $10 less if you bundle it with GA. It runs from 14 stops, from Hampton Inn & Suites Indio out to the Palm Springs Convention Center, and drops you closest to festival entry for the shortest walk. Indian Wells Tennis Gardens and The Shops at Palm Desert double as official Park & Ride lots, so you can drive partway and ride the rest.

Driving and parking: preferred parking is $299 for all three days and limited. General parking is available too, but leaving after Garth Brooks on Sunday night means a long wait in a field of cars. Check the festival's Getting Here page for rideshare zones and the Carpool Convoy program before you go.

Insider tip: if you're driving from Los Angeles, leave Thursday. Camping check-in has historically opened Thursday morning, and Friday's I-10 traffic into the valley is the worst of the weekend.

Where to Eat

The valley eats well if you leave the grounds to do it. Old Town La Quinta is closest to the polo fields and good for a sit-down dinner on the off-night. El Paseo in Palm Desert has the most range, from steakhouses to tacos. Downtown Palm Springs is where you go when you want dinner to turn into a night out. And in Indio, the date shake at Shields Date Garden is a local tradition worth the detour on the drive in.

On the grounds, Guy Fieri's Smokehouse is back for 2027, along with the festival's full food lineup. Insider tip: eat a real breakfast. Days run long and hot, and the food lines get long at dinner time.

GA, Rhinestone or Corral?

Every pass covers all three days. What changes is where you can stand and where you can sit down.

GA ($599) gets you onto the grounds and in front of every stage the crowd allows. Most people buy it, and for most people it's enough. Rhinestone Saloon (from $974) adds two saloons, the Rhinestone and the Rose Garden. That matters more than it sounds on a hot April afternoon. Corral Standing Pit (from $1,899) puts you in front of the Mane Stage, which is the only way to be close for Garth Brooks without camping at the rail all day. Corral Reserved Seating ($1,199 to $2,299 by section) gives you an assigned seat behind the pit, a souvenir seat, and saloon access.

Insider tip: if you plan to stay for all three closers, Corral Reserved in the cheaper back sections costs less than the standing pit and comes with a seat you don't have to defend.

Late Night on Mustang

When the Mane Stage goes dark, the night moves to the Mustang stage. Sean Paul plays Friday, Florida Georgia Line plays Saturday, and Flo Rida closes it out on Sunday, with Whiskey Jam bringing very special guests. It's a party set, not a listening room.

Diplo's Honkytonk is back on the 2027 poster too. If you're riding the shuttle, check the last departure before you commit to a late set.

The November 30 Deadline

Stagecoach sells passes on a payment plan: $49 down, with the rest split into equal monthly payments. It's available through November 30, 2026. After that, passes are pay-in-full only.

The plan is worth it if you know you're going and would rather not drop $599 or more right now. It isn't a way to hold a pass while you decide, so commit to the weekend first. If plans change later, the official waitlist and resale page is the festival-approved way to pass a wristband on.

Make It a Desert Weekend

Stagecoach week is a good excuse to see the rest of the desert. Joshua Tree National Park's south entrance is under an hour from Indio, and the Cholla Cactus Garden at golden hour is worth the drive on its own. The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway climbs out of the heat to the San Jacinto pines in about ten minutes. And Palm Springs itself is made for a slow Monday: a pool, a late breakfast and a flight out of PSP, minutes from downtown.

Our move: drive in Thursday, stay in La Quinta or Indian Wells near a shuttle stop, ride the shuttle all three days, and spend Monday in Palm Springs before heading home.
