Is Viva Las Vegas Worth the Trip?

For one weekend every spring, an off-Strip casino on Tropicana Avenue turns into 1957. Viva Las Vegas takes over all of The Orleans: the arena, the showrooms, the ballrooms, the pool and the parking lot. It's been doing it for three decades, and April 8 to 11, 2027 is the 30th edition. The 2025 edition drew about 9,000 fans from more than 20 countries, and the lineup is pure roots: rockabilly, psychobilly, rock and roll and swing, with UK names like the Polecats and Guana Batz alongside American mainstays like Deke Dickerson and Marti Brom.

The music is only half of it. Hundreds of pre-1964 cars fill the lot beside the arena, there's a burlesque showcase and competition, tiki pool parties, dance lessons, a vintage bazaar, and record hops that run until morning. A lot of the crowd dresses the part all weekend, and that's a big part of the fun.

Insider tip: the festival's room block at The Orleans has already sold out. The Gold Coast block is still open, and a shuttle runs between the two hotels for anyone with a room key from either.

Best For

Rockabilly, roots and vintage car people, obviously. Anyone who loves dressing up and wants a whole crowd doing it with them. International visitors looking for one reason to cross an ocean for Vegas that isn't the Strip.

Less ideal for

Anyone aged 13 to 20, who can only attend the car show. Families hoping to stay late, since children 12 and under must leave the music rooms by 10pm. And anyone who wants a single day of indoor music on Thursday, Friday or Saturday: those passes don't exist.

Where to Stay

Every Viva Las Vegas event happens inside The Orleans, so the closer you sleep, the easier the record hops get. The Orleans is off the Strip on West Tropicana Avenue, west of I-15.

  • The Orleans (on site, block sold out). The festival block is gone, but it's still worth checking for regular rooms. Staying here means walking to everything, at any hour.
  • Gold Coast (official overflow). The festival's second block is open, with group code RBWC27C. A shuttle runs between the Gold Coast and The Orleans for guests of either hotel.
  • Palms (nearby, more upscale). On West Flamingo Road near the Gold Coast, and on the festival's own list of nearby hotels.
  • The Strip (more choice, more driving). Plenty of rooms and nightlife, but you'll be taking a rideshare to and from The Orleans every day, including after the late shows.

Hotel rooms aren't included in any ticket. Check-in requires everyone in a group to arrive together, and IDs are checked against ticket names, so book under the same name as your ticket.

Getting There

Flying in: Harry Reid International (LAS) is a short rideshare from The Orleans.

Driving a classic: car show entries register separately on vivalasvegas.net. Cars can stay in the show lot overnight Wednesday to Saturday, but once they're parked, they can't be moved and nobody can enter the lot overnight.

Wristbands: pick them up inside The Orleans from Wednesday at 5pm. Every name on the order has to be there with ID.

Where to Eat

You don't have to leave The Orleans to eat, which helps on a four-day schedule. The event itself is cash-free for tickets and merchandise, though the hotel and many vendors take cash. For a night off from the festival, the Strip is a short ride east.

The Car Show

The car show runs for three days in a fenced lot beside The Orleans Arena: Thursday and Friday from 10am to 10pm, and Saturday, the main day, from 9am to 7pm. Every car is pre-1964. In 2025 the organizers counted roughly 800 to 1,000 cars, and up to 15,000 people on Saturday. Saturday also brings outdoor headliners, the Queen of the Car Show vote and weddings among the cars. If you only want the cars, the Classic pass (Thursday to Saturday) or the Saturday-only Hot Rodder costs a fraction of a Hi Roller.

Which Ticket Do You Need?

Hi Roller covers everything for all four days: $220 until March 20, 2027, then $240, and $250 at the door. It's the only way to see Thursday, Friday or Saturday indoor shows, because there are no single-day passes for those nights. Sunday ($60) covers Sunday indoor events and the Tiki Pool Party. Classic and Hot Rodder are car-show passes. Children 12 and under get in free with a parent. Ages 13 to 20 can only buy the Hot Rodder. Tickets are non-refundable but can be transferred through Tix.
